Young Professionals Mingler: Fall Edition – New Speakers and Sponsors!

The most validating piece of feedback from my first ever, POYmeetsworld hosted event, was, “When’s the next one!?”

My birthday was last week and some of the kindest messages I received were ones that reminded me to be proud of my accomplishments this past year including organizing a fun and meaningful event where so many people left with some new connections! So, quick Life-Pro-Tip – when you’re feeling in need of a confidence boost, remember how FAR you’ve already come!

Summer Success Stories

Actually, my favourite success story was from my good friend Tina. She used to write a lot on medium.com and in her brief bio onine, she described herself  in the following way: “Cancer taught me a thing or two. On a mission to educate, inspire, and empower”.  One Summer evening while laying on the beach, she shared with me that she met someone else from my event who had just finished chemotherapy. And, when Tina learned that, she shared her own personal journey: describing how she had gone through the same thing. In doing so, she was able to inspire and empower this other individual. The two of them stayed in close contact immediately following that event, and THAT is the kind of connection I want to help create!

So, needless to say, I’m ecstatic that Tina is going to be one of my key speakers at the Fall Young Professionals Mingler in a couple of weeks that aims to help others in their personal journey by forging new connections, and learning healthy habits and tangible lessons along the way.

Fall Line Up of Inspirational Speakers

Here’s a bit more about each of the speakers that I’ve identified as passionate young professionals that live and breathe the notion of constant improvement, and challenging yourself.
I’m so inspired by each of them, and invite you to come and hear their story as well.

Daniela:

Just one look at Daniela’s instagram and you can see she wears multiple hats as a fitness professional! “SoulCycle Instructor Vancouver• LA• NYC/Wilhelmina Model/ Dancer with GTA Los Angeles/ Professional Sweater and Fitness Addict.” She recently launched her own blog, and shares how she didn’t get to be where she is at today (SoulCycle instructor) on first try. “But, believes that when life knocks you down, no matter how hard, you have to get back up. You rise to the challenge if it is worth it to you. And this dream certainly was worth it.” She leads serious cardio spin sessions and inspires hundreds of people each week to say no to excuses, and YES to opportunity!

Mike:

You may recognize him from his days playing for the Vancouver Canucks! At the NHL Professional level of sport, you learn a lot about dedication, discipline and striving to be your best. Mike will share some insights on his journey and some lessons that he’s taken from sports, into the next phase of his career!

Tina:

“Cancer taught me a thing or two. On a mission to educate, inspire, and empower.” Instagram is her daily journal where she shares her journey through words and images. Find her over at @meducatedorg while she works on her new site. 🙂 Tina has also co-created her very own Alive2Thrive transformationl healing retreats to enable and empower young adults who have faced cancer. As a young thriver, Tina knows that cancer is a harsh reality, no matter how you look at it. Still, she has come to learn that cancer is as much of a teacher as it is a bully. Come heer some of Tina’s lessons on thriving!

Value Add for ALL Attendees

Soul Cycle Spin Classes

I’m also pleased that several sponsors are on board to promote their healthy products and services. When it comes to spending money, I know how much *I* care about value, and I want to make sure every attendee gets solid value in addition to the lessons they learn through quality speakers. What does this mean? It means physical prizes. Like SoulCycle Spin classes at their posh new studio in Yaletown – bringing some of that celebrity hype to Vancouver (Beyonce goes to these haah!).

Hear from Daniela about her journey, and then join for a free session shortly after, at your own convenience!

New Sponsors! 2 Guys with Knives – Healthy Meal Delivery

New this time around, I partnered with the amazing local healthy meal prep company, 2 Guys with Knives, to offer a $50 door prize AND a discount code to everyone involved to get a complimentary item with their 1st order purchase – use #POYmeetsworld. Eric has been ordering from 2 Guys with Knives for over a year and they create new, innovative menus each week! Everything is dairy-free and gluten-free, with all kinds of creative spices and sauces so that you’re getting a nutrient-dense, healthy meal that will keep you on the right track! It’s such a time saver and is SO delicious.

So many people have asked what my secret was to getting fit for my bodybuilding competition last year.

Well training: lifting weights and cardio was a big part. But DIET is 80+ % of the process!

Many meal-prep companies exist, but to be honest, they seem quite bland. 2 Guys with Knives however, create super tasty meals with the sassiest names haha! Because their meals are dairy-free and gluten-free, they are perfect for a sustainable lifestyle diet. If you’re time poor, which most of us are, a meal prep service like theirs is perfect. You get your meals delivered on Sunday, and you’re ready to go for the whole week – breakfast, lunch, dinner and even… healthy dessert!!! My favourite is the Baobab Balls.

  • Frittata Time
  • Island Bromance
  • Gluten free Paleo Salted Caramel Chocolate Pie

My Personal Goals

For my own fitness goals, I’m currently prepping for a March 2017 BodyBuilding competition and will be tracking my progress – build a bit more muscle and then cut – while incorporating some of their meals. Throwback to last year’s bodybuilding journey:

Follow along on my journey! And, try some healthy, convenient meals by 2 Guys with Knives yourself!
