My sister and I travelled to Hong Kong together this Fall for a special occasion: Family Reunion..x3!
We were back in Hong Kong together for the first time in over 3 years for a few special reasons: to spend time with my Dad, our Cousins and also, for my Mom’s Birthday and first time in over 50 years that she would be reunited with her siblings and extended family in her birth city.
My mom insisted on booking a few nights in Central Hong Kong for convenience, and we settled on the Conrad property because of its location and previous positive experiences at their Beijing location. (Read more about previous travels to Beijing here)

I sent an email to the GM to notify them ahead of time of this special occasion and that both my sister and I were Hilton Gold Members who frequented Hilton Properties.

Upgrade in Hong Kong Confirmed!
The direct email and existing status paid off! The GM’s Assistant wrote to me before our arrival confirming a fantastic upgrade to the Executive Floors with access to the Executive Lounge. They were also going to ensure that my sister’s room and my mom’s rooms would be close to one another.

Huge thanks to Katie Lui for arranging a perfect special occasion stay! I’m sitting at an Airport Lounge in HK and feel compelled to write my review now of the incredible experience my family and I just had at the Conrad before I depart back home. My sister and I were in town for a very special occasion – my mother’s first trip back to Hong Kong in decades to celebrate her birthday, a school reunion, and also a family reunion. I knew I had to book an extraordinary 5* hotel and finally decided on the Conrad given my Hilton Gold status and the fact my partner frequently stays at the Conrad Beijing where the service has been outstanding.
My sister has status at several hotels and begrudgingly booked at the Conrad to be together despite other 5* hotels offering a better price. I wrote to the GM with these details, with the understanding that Hilton Gold and Diamond Status offers their members an upgrade dependant on availability, and I appreciated Katie’s immediate response that they received my email and would do their best, although, “it would be a very busy weekend in Hong Kong”. That’s fair I thought, and I am glad they were upfront about managing my expectations.
About 1 week out, I was informed that they would be able to provide an upgrade, and when I mentioned my sister’s hotel booking, they said would do their best to put our rooms together. From there, it was one delightful surprise after another!
- I said I would arrive at 2 pm, but last minute, wrote to Katie saying I would be coming early at 11 am to drop off luggage. She responded within minutes and said that no matter what, we could leave our luggage and use the 59th floor executive lounge while waiting for our room. They rushed to have 1 out of 2 rooms ready and we were able to immediately go up and leave our luggage there.
- Upgrades for 2/2 rooms to the 58th Executive Floor including a corner suite with INCREDIBLE harbour and peak views (Room 5802 for reference!)
- Lovely welcome tea
- Beautiful plate of chocolates and one of the prettiest fruit platters I have seen (10+ pieces of fruit!)
- Conrad rubber duck (didn’t get this at the Beijing Conrad, so this was a cute surprise)
- 2 Conrad teddies!
- Later in the evening, surprise bottle of champagne and a delicious birthday cake for my mom. This was served with 4 glasses and 4 plates which was very thoughtful since my sister was in another room so they thought of her. The cake was so big we were able to invite our cousins over to join us.
- Beautiful bouquet of roses in the room
- A signed birthday card for my mom from the staff!
We enjoyed the hotel with its spacious rooms, convenient location (right at Admiralty MTR, Pacific Place Mall) and gorgeous views, that we invited some friends to join for meals. They loved the views too and we were delighted to host them there.
My local friend came over and commented that the views were better from here than the nearby Upper House and Shangri-La (2 other hotel options, along with the JW Marriott that are adjacent or connected to Pacific Place Mall)!!
Compared to the other Conrad I stayed at (Beijing), this one isn’t as modern, but the rooms felt super comfortable, views are out of this world, location is fantastic (connected to MTR, nearby Park, we walked to the Mid-Levels from here) and the service is outstanding!
10/10 would highly recommend, especially if you’re a Hilton Honors member with Status, and return!

What a spread!
After I returned to the North America, I received multiple personal notes from the Hotel Management thanking me for my stay and requesting that I let them know when I’ll be back.
