Cali Life – Palm Springs Canyon Hike and Joshua Tree National Park

As part of my family vacation (Christmas in Vegas, hosted by my sister the local), we took a few road trips (Death Valley Day Trip!) and an extended trip to Palm Springs where my Aunt and Uncle live.

I’m astounded by variety of beautiful sights and fun hiking trails all along the South West US. I definitely need to do more road trips around this area!

Below is a brief photo summary of the 2 day trips from Palm Springs, California:

  1. Canyon Springs (in Palm Springs)
  2. Joshua Tree Park (1 hour drive)

A short hike from the parking lots and already you reach the first prime view point of the hike:

Tons of panorama opportunities:

Joshua Tree National Park

This place is such a dream – we did a quick drive through this national park full of mysterious and unique Joshua Trees. We had just enough time to swing the the cactus field, and a couple of rock fields including the aptly named, “skull rock”.

One could easily spend a full day here, and even camp, to check out the starry skies.

Careful, the needles can stick to you!

Climbing and scrambling over and under rocks

Like another planet

Joshua trees! A symbol of the region

I climbed into the eye socket – it was a proud moment. And it’s definitely harder than it looks!
